Memory Project
In the summer of 2009, the Revere Society for Cultural and Historic Preservation launched the “Memories Archive” to create an archive of peoples’ memories of Revere. We met one day a month from July to September at Revere Beach and documented over 100 people’s stories of Revere.
Ralph and Dot DiPesa’s wedding at the General Edwards Inn, picnics at the beach, rides and amusements, schools and politics: All were recalled and related to our volunteers with the help of Matthew Nash from the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
During the winter we will be visiting Senior Centers in the area to gather more memories for our archives, and are planning to produce a local cable channel show to broadcast some of them.
